volunteer opportunities

We are currently seeking a Librarian volunteer to catalogue and organize our library. This volunteer position offers an excellent opportunity for someone wanting to gain experience as a librarian within a human rights organisation. Please note the application deadline of 9am, Friday 9th July.

Time Commitment: 1-2 days per week, over 3 months

Start Date: July 2010

We are looking for someone with a library science degree/certificate or experience in organising a library, to catalogue and organize our bilingual (English and Spanish) small library, approx. 1000 publications in both languages. This would involve working at your own pace over the summer to catalogue several publications and books, as well as to organise these under different subject matters for their ease of access. Our library’s focus is on women’s rights (violence against women and women’s economic rights in particular). For this reason, it would be desirable if you have specific academic knowledge on this area.

We are able to offer travel costs and a lunch stipend up to £10 in total per day.

To apply, please submit your CV, and a short covering letter saying why you would like the post, by 9am on Friday 9th July 2010 to info@cawn.org. Interviews for this position will be held on Monday 12th July.
